Lancaster and York Counties, SC
South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) hired Mulkey to replace two deficient bridges along SC-5 in Lancaster and York Counties. Mulkey provided a number of services to complete this project, including: surveying, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), planning, roadway and bridge design, hydraulic/drainage design, and permitting/environmental engineering. The existing bridge over the Catawba River and CSX Railroad was replaced with a new 1745 foot long concrete structure. An existing overflow relief bridge was also replaced with a new 422-foot long structure. A top priority bridge replacement project, Mulkey used a turnkey delivery approach and a compressed production schedule. Both bridges are scheduled for completion in May 2013.
