The feats involved in the infrastructure design of the Charlotte Center City Arena were just as impressive as any performed by the professional athletes who’ll play in it. An aggressive schedule, a dense urban setting and constant traffic flow were just a few of the challenges Mulkey’s team of engineers and surveyors faced during the project.

Provided with initial plans by the City of Charlotte, Mulkey discovered unanticipated underground utility conflicts. This required the team to use its expertise to find acceptable alternatives and prevent delays. Mulkey helped the City of Charlotte design and widen new and existing streets to accommodate traffic growth. And with deadlines for the construction phase looming, Mulkey completed construction drawings within three months—enabling the City to meet its accelerated schedule.
