Water Resources

Mulkey, Inc. offers a full range of hydrologic and hydraulic design, from erosion control systems to innovative storm water best management practice (BMP) designs.

Maintaining good water quality is a challenge in rapidly growing communities. Mulkey meets that challenge by staying abreast of new water management techniques that serve multiple functions. For instance, the firm promotes the use of innovations such as “rain gardens,” an aesthestic and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional bio-retention techniques. The firm also excels in the design of extended detention wetlands, which drain slowly so that pollutants are filtered from run-off before entering surface waters.

Mulkey is accomplished at “big picture” hydrologic modeling, which addresses the impact of surface run-off within a watershed, as well as site-specific hydraulic modeling. The firm has completed a number of FEMA flood studies, including conditional letters of map revisions. The hydraulics engineering staff assists clients in watershed studies and develops solutions to specific water quailty issues.
