......Working with Wetlands to Provide Sustainable Solutions

George Gibson, PE and principal, of Mulkey Engineers & Consultants, provided the presentation on the research study “Temporary Bridging to Avoid or Minimize Impacts to Waters and Wetlands During Highway Construction” at the 2008 SASHTO conference. He presented findings and procedural guidelines that state highway agencies and other stakeholders currently use or can apply when bridging wetlands or waters of the United States. The study incorporated state-of-the-art engineering experience and understanding of the temporary bridging of wetlands across the United States. The presentation is the culmination of a research project sponsored by the National Cooperative Highway Research Program conducted in 2006 and 2007 by Mulkey Engineers & Consultants and the Center for Transportation and the Environment at North Carolina State University.
