Jay Bissett Appointed to North Carolina Geographic Information Coordinating Council

Raleigh, NC—Feb. 14, 2011— Former North Carolina Speaker of the House Joe Hackney nominated Jay Bissett, PE, principal and Carolinas transportation manager with Mulkey Engineers & Consultants, to serve on the North Carolina Geographic Information Coordinating Council (GICC) effective Jan. 1. “Being nominated to serve on the GICC is an honor,” Bissett said. “What an important role this is to help improve North Carolina’s geographic information.”

The North Carolina GICC develops policies regarding the use of geographic information, GIS and other related technologies. The GICC conducts strategic planning, resolves policy and technology issues, and provides coordination of State, local and private sector GIS efforts. The GICC is responsible for promoting geographic information as a strategic resource in the state in order to improve the quality, access, cost-effectiveness and usefulness of North Carolina’s geographic information.
