At Mulkey, I’ve had the opportunity to work a flexible schedule that includes telecommuting two days a week. This has allowed me to participate in activities at my children’s school, schedule doctor’s appointments and other conveniences so appreciated by moms who work outside the home. The company has provided me a laptop and mobile phone so my transition from office to living room is seamless. I’m able to respond to client needs and take care of a sick child at the same time. Participating in the Mulkey Wellness Program has given me the motivation I’ve needed to make healthier choices in my life. For the first time in years, I’ve had my cholesterol checked, begun exercising and started making better decisions at mealtimes. I not only feel more energetic, I’ve also lost weight! Fun activities such as bowling and outdoor games, weekly wellness tips, healthy snack choices and friendly competitions including a weight-loss challenge and a walking “race” have created a supportive environment at Mulkey that is encouraging me to stay on track. During my 10 years with the company, Mulkey has given me and my family the support that was needed as we face my wife’s 7-year battle with breast cancer. I have a flexible schedule to make sure my son gets off to school in the mornings. I have been able to work from home when my wife does not feel well. In addition, my friends at Mulkey have been very generous in helping with the financial piece of ongoing medical treatment. An annual St. Patrick’s Day Putt-Putt tournament was used as a fundraiser for my family. When my wife’s cancer reappeared, my Mulkey family had a silent auction for us, raising about $18,000 to help us with our medical bills.
